monday memories

Krakow, Poland

8th May 2011
Off to Krakow today, spending 3 hours on the train. Windows open on both sides of our cabin as it's a very hot day today! Warsaw was super fun, very hot and muggy, cheap eats and pretty good sightseeing. We all exceeded our vodka limit last night so I'll be staring clear of that poison for a while. Vodka = stun juice.

A pretty impressive storm going on outside. Lots of rain mostly (hail?), lightening and perhaps thunder?

New York Cats

On Sundays Speakeasy transforms from a sophisticated bistro into a New York burger joint intended to feel like you're hanging out in a New York alleyway. At the thought of a delicious menu of American burgers, chilli dogs and Mexican fries..I was all over it!

I rounded up a few peeps to sample the goods. Unfortunately the 'cool change' brought with it ferocious winds and while sitting under the awning admiring the graffiti, I could smell the beginnings of rain.

Luckily for us and our hungry tums the organizers were optimistic about the situation, uprooting the setup and shifting the party upstairs.

The place started to pack out and the records started spinnin'. Our burger orders arrived promptly and I can safely say we were all enjoying our Beyonce Booty Burger's and Chicky Doo Daa's. The wagyu beef patty was cooked to perfection and the bun was the best kind of brioche. Our expert rating (by the biggest stretch of imagination) lay between 7.5-8 out of 10. No doubt we will be back one warm Sunday for the intended outdoor experience.

monday memories

I have been so lazy with my 'Monday memories' stories. I really wish these would be weekly but my busy agenda sadly does not allow such regularity.

I hope you enjoy them anyway, you've probably realized they're in no particular order. Quite simply, the mood I am in dictates the memories I feel like revisiting. Today...dreams of the East (East of Europe that is).

Tartu, Estonia
6th May 2011
The people in Estonia are very good looking. Maybe exceptionally good looking. After spending 3 nights in Tallinn we decided to come to Tartu for a 1 night stopover and really didn't do too much here. To note, we went partying at a bar called "Illusions' which was the most lush bar I've visited yet. Quite possibly the worst music I've ever heard.

Apparently the guys in Estonia are really shy (so I am told by a local). I may have overheard Nick and Daniel discussing this revelation. If I remember correctly, and excuse my paraphrasing "...anyone with a bit of game should head to Estonia and clean up...". cheeky boys.

Apparently this Estonian man spoke 19 languages at the ripe age of 18 and practically walked the length of Estonia.
